Analysing Action Genre Conventions in Opening Sequences - Introduction

Having picked the action genre (or possibly an action hybrid, such as action-comedy) for my opening sequence, in the next few posts I will be looking at five different opening sequences from the action genre to identify the genre conventions. At the moment I am certain that my opening sequence will at the very least be an action hybrid and I will look at action hybrids at a later date if I do decide to go down this route. For now I will focus my analysis on the opening scenes of the following action films:
