Possible Ratings Categories for 'When Duty Calls'
Action films are typically rated 12A or 15 by the BBFC, usually due to violence, strong language or themes that are inappropriate for younger audiences that feature throughout the films. However, occasionally action films receive an 18 rating due to these sort of issues. Two main examples of action films receiving the highest classification are 'Kill Bill' (volumes 1 and 2) and 'John Wick 2'.
I will now weigh up the pros and cons for each age rating to determine what age rating 'When Duty Calls' will receive.
Pros: Attracts a wider audience as those under 12 can watch the film if they are accompanied by an adult, therefore appealing to more people which can make the film more popular/commercially successful compared to if it received a higher rating.
Cons: Can't include excessive violence, language or inappropriate themes which might take away the authenticity of the movie as it might not tally with audience expectations for a typical action film. Therefore it might not appeal to older audiences who are used to much more intense action in films from the genre.
