Considering Netflix as Another Production Company

I’ve noticed that conventional action films and a very popular hybrid of the action genre in recent years (the action-comedy sub-genre) have been especially popular on streaming services such as Netflix, with the company now actively involved in producing these types of films.

Perhaps this is an attempt by streaming platforms to appeal to a broader audience, as action-comedies tend to attract both male and female viewers and are accessible for all ages as the comedy elements lighten the mood of the intense action. The mix of adrenaline-rushing action and playful humour arguably makes these film more engaging for audiences and the genres work very well together as they are two popular genres that appeal to a wide cohort.

For this reason, I’m considering having Netflix as one of my main production companies for ‘When Duty Calls’ as they are not only a huge streaming platform, which means my film can be distributed on the platform after receiving a theatrical release, but also they have recently begun producing big blockbusters which are action-driven, dominated with visual effects, belong to popular genres and have A-list stars, which means they are the most ideal films to be seen in the cinema (often on IMAX) which explains why many of their original films have been so successful.

Therefore, they would be a great production company to have especially due to the success of producing their films in recent years due to changes in consumer behaviour as they received a lot of customers during Covid, which has enabled them to expand as a business in terms of producing as well as streaming movies. Finally, Netflix have worked closely with Paramount Pictures before and Skydance Media, therefore it is clear the dynamics would work well.
